March 2017 - John and I have been overwhelmed by the response to our first shipment of red Burgundy from Domaine Michel Gros. A number of the wines we imported have already sold out and we are faced with an ongoing demand for these fabulous wines as a result of our tasting nights in Melbourne and Bendigo.  With this in mind we have decided on a second indent offer of these fabulous wines. Bourgogne Here the nose is airier and more elegant with its slightly more complex array of rose, violet and dark berry fruit that is trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is good vibrancy to the textured middle weight flavors that deliver equally good complexity on the saline-inflected finish. Burghound. 88 Points Lovely red hue. The bouquet shows lovely complex raspberry aromas with a touch of oak present. The palate has lovely balanced texture and great persistence of flavour. IL. Price $49.00 per bottle    Order  Available for immediate delivery 2014 Nuits St Georges. Les Chaliots. Village Here too the pungent nose displays plenty of wood toast on the strongly reduced aromas. By contrast there is both good freshness and detail to the relatively sleek, even refined, medium-bodied and lightly mineral-suffused flavor that possess better overall depth and length on the nicely balanced finale. Burghound 91 points.  Medium crimson red. The bouquet is slightly subdued at this stage but the palate has beautiful fruit and texture with soft tannin's and good acid balance. IL Indent Price $79.00 per bottle.    Order 2014 Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Aux Brulées A subtle but not invisible note of wood serves as a backdrop for the overtly spicy and quite floral aromas of lavender, lilac and violet that add breadth to the mostly dark berry fruit scents. There is excellent richness and volume to the suave and caressing medium weight flavors that brim with tannin-buffering dry extract, all wrapped in a fleshy if mildly austere finale that delivers very fine persistence. This is sufficiently structured to require at least a decade of bottle age. Burghound 92 points Generous fruit and yet subtle oak on the nose even though 60% of the oak was new. The depth of fruit is evident in the way the oak is so well integrated. The tannin's are a little more evident in this wine as you would expect from a young 1er Cru. This is a real step up. IL. Indent Price $135.00 per bottle.    Order 2014 Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Clos des Reas There is a more refined mouth feel to the slightly less concentrated medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a velvety, dusty and palate coating finale that is a bit less structured. Burghound 92 points. The bouquet is fuller, sweeter and more intense than the wines we have seen so far. The palate is rich, round and generous with great acidity and length. The flavour just lingers. This is a wine to cellar for a few years. IL Indent Price $150.00 per bottle.    Order 2014 Clos Vougeot, Grand Cru.    A cool and restrained nose exhibits less obvious wood toast on the subtle mix of earth, plum and violet aromas. There is both good energy and lovely detail on the powerful and solidly constituted big-bodied flavors that possess a more refined mouth feel than usual while displaying very fine persistence and complexity on the saline-inflected and youthfully austere finale. Burghound 93 points Fresh spicy yet delicate fruit aromas with a touch of tobacco on the nose. The palate is fine and extremely complex with layers of flavour, blackberry and raspberry which linger in the mouth. A truly superb Grand Cru Burgundy.
