Wine Connect Tour de Burgundy 2015 - Puligny Montrachet

The 2015 Wine-Connect Tour de Burgundy reached it's conclusion yesterday with a visit to Olivier Laflaive at Puligny Montrachet.

Vineyard tour was followed by a tour of the winery with Patrick Laflaive and then lunch with a tasting of villages, 1er Cru and Grand Cru wines.

We were met by winemaker Charles who gave us a tour of the vineyard. Charles provided the group with an excellent explanation of the annual cycle of the vine and why vineyards are declared village, 1er Cru or Grand Cru. Charles told us he did a vintage in Australia in 2008 with my friend John Innes at Rymill Estate. The wine world is very small.

We celebrated the end of the tour with dinner at Le Montrachet restaurant, starting with the 2005 Amour de Deutz. Before we sat down to dinner Julian sang a rousing rendition of La Marseillaise which left the waiting staff mesmerised. Our waitress said it gave her goose bumps (chair de poule). It was the perfect conclusion to a wonderful week.

A thousand thank you's to everyone who came along for the ride and made the week such a great success.
