Dating back to the early 1800s and more recently run by Jean Gros until his retirement in the early 1990s, the Gros Dynasty is now operated by the family’s sixth generation and divided into four estates known as Domaine Michel Gros, Domaine Gros Frére et Soeur, Domaine A.F. Gros and Domaine Anne Gros.
In 1975, Michel Gros worked his first vintage on the family estate alongside his father. Today, he is the owner and grower of Clos des Réas (Monopole) and Clos de Vougeot, which he inherited from his father, and additionally purchased properties in Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-St-Georges Les Chaliots, Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis. In 1997, the Écard family entrusted Michel to run their estate located in Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-St-Georges.
In total, Domaine Michel Gros represents approximately 18 ha. Known for combining tradition with innovation, Michel does not hold back when experimenting with techniques that could potentially lead to improvement in both the vineyard and the cellar.
